Public Education
I was raised by a public school teacher and have attended public schools my entire life. I pledge to be a County Councilman that fights to improve our public school system and one that seeks the safety of those who work and learn within it.

Public Transportation
As your County Councilman I will vote to fund and improve the bus system because I understand that public transportation is vital to our community.

Homelessness
I understand that homelessness is a serious issue facing Columbia, Richland County, and the region. Furthermore, I believe it is more expensive to leave people in crisis than to take them out of crisis. As your County Councilman, I will wage the fight against homelessness.

Transparency:
Our current Richland County Council does not allow the meetings to be taped and made available for public viewing. I strongly believe any group elected by the people and acting on the public’s behalf must be visible and accountable to everyone. As your voice on County Council, I will advocate for these meetings to be taped and made available for public viewing, much like School Board and City Council meetings are. You deserve to know first hand what your locally elected officials are doing and saying!

Intergovernmental Cooperation:
Our District is located within the city limits of Columbia, and we are best served when the City of Columbia and Richland County work together for the common good. I pledge to usher in a NEW ERA of intergovernmental cooperation.

Crime:
One of my paramount concerns as your County Councilman will be your safety. In fact, this should be a paramount concern of any local official. As recent crime statistics indicate, we are not getting the job done. My experience as a Richland County Prosecutor has enabled me to understand what resources law enforcement officers and Prosecutors need to ensure the safety of our community. I pledge to work tirelessly in waging the fight against crime to keep you and your families safe!

Job Creation:
Richland County has the convergence of three major rivers, three major interstates, Fort Jackson, and several colleges and universities. As your County Councilman, I will use all the positive assets our County offers to recruit businesses, tourism, and other conventions/events that will result in more jobs being created and more money being spent right here in Richland County. In addition, local government must create an environment where small business owners can compete and succeed.

Fiscal Responsibility:
As your County Councilman I will be extremely cautious and diligent before allocating your hard-earned taxpayer dollars.

Environment:
I understand that we are stewards of the land for future generations. As your County Councilman, I will work to enforce environmental ordinances, conserve our natural resources, and demand responsible development. My top aim will be to make Richland County clean and safe!
